Polysemous word found in Colossians 4:13
#1
I think I found a polysemous word in Colossians 4:13. The KJV utilizes the family of texts called the Received Text . The NASB uses the family of the Critical Text.

Colossians 4:13 (KJV) ???For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.??? The Greek word for ???zeal??? is ???zelos???.

Colossians 4:13 (NAS) ???For I testify for him that he has a deep concern for you and for those who are in Laodicea and Hierapolis. ??? The Greek word for ???concern??? is ???ponos??? and can mean ???intense desire??? (as in envy).

What if there is an Aramaic word whose meaning can be understood as either ???zeal???, ???concern???, "intense desire???, or ???envy???, wouldn???t it point to an Aramaic original? The Aramaic word ("0nn=d") used in the Peshitta in Colossians 3:16 can be translated into Greek as either ???envy???, ???concern???, or ???zeal???. Surely, this isn???t coincidental.
