Joseph's Multicolored Garment - Genesis 37
#1
I am trying to find out what the correct translation is, for the garment that was made by Jacob (Israel), for his son Joseph - as mentioned in Genesis 37. This garment is talked of, atleast 3 times, in this chapter. Dr. Lamsa's translation indicates it as a rich coat with long sleeves, while KJV refers to it as a multicolored garment. What is the correct translation? Can anyone please help? Thanks!

Compare 2 Samuel 13:18 - the word usually rendered as "long-sleeved garment" is the same, so whatever Yosef was wearing, Tamar also had. Not much by way of determining if it means "vari-colored" or "long-sleeved" but hopefully this helps a little bit.
