Can Eunuch enter into assembly of God?
#1
Hello Everyone,
Below information is written by Yaqob Younan Levine.

Masoretic text (23:2 in Hebrew): He that is crushed or maimed in his privy parts shall not enter into the assembly of the LORD (JPS Tanakh).

Other Versions

New American Standard Bible: "No one who is emasculated or
has his male organ cut off shall enter the assembly of the LORD.
King James Version: He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his
privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the
LORD.

American Standard Version: He that is wounded in the stones, or
hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the assembly of
Jehovah.

Bible in Basic English: No man whose private parts have been
wounded or cut off may come into the meeting of the Lord's
people.

In Peshitta Tanakh, this verse is on Deuteronomy 23:1.

Deuteronomy 23:1 (Yaqob Younan's translation of Peshitta Tanakh) - "No adulterer shall enter the congregation of MarYah."

The peshitta (POT) edition makes a lot more sense though. The Septuagint however, also has the Hebrew reading.

I agree with you, distazo. Another interesting point is the next verse (Deuteronomy 23:2) which says "No one born of a forbidden marriage nor any of their descendants may enter the assembly of the LORD, not even in the tenth generation."

In Lamsa's translation of Deuteronomy 23:2, Lamsa translates Bar Gora as "A bastard."

The verse in Deuteronomy 23:2 makes a lot more sense after we read Deuteronomy 23:1 in Peshitta Tanakh (No adulterer shall enter the congregation of MarYah). The second verse is more like a proper continuation of the first verse.
