Assyrians in San Jose Endorse the ACAD Declaration
On January 25th, 2008, and per an invitation from its President Mr. David AlBazi, the San Jose Parish Council held a meeting in San Jose, California to discuss the Declaration of Intention endorsed by the Clergy Conference of Assyrian Catholic Apostolic Diocese (ACAD) on January 17, 2008.
The members of the Parish Council read and deliberated the declaration. A number of questions were raised by the participants but were answered by San Jose???s parish priest Corbishop Samuel Dinkha. Many positive comments were made praising the initiative that was long overdue. The members of the Parish Council praised this declaration as being a brave step that will put our movement in the right path and accomplish the goals of our mission: Accountability, Reform and Unity. This Parish Council believes that the anticipated communion with the Catholic Church and unity with the Chaldean Churches will be the beginning of a new era, where the glorious tradition of the Church of the East will be presented to the new generation both in the Homeland and in the Diasporas. Furthermore, this step will encourage Assyrians and Chaldeans everywhere to work together as one family and thus restore confidence and respect that ought to be between brothers and sisters. In other words, unity will replace division and solidarity to take the place of isolation. In such a way, we have great confidence that our Lord Jesus Christ is pleased by our action and that the Holy Spirit will continue to bless these and other efforts for unity and communion.
A motion to endorse and support the declaration was made, and the members unanimously agreed to adopt it as a sign of their faith in the spiritual leadership of their spiritual leader H.G. Bishop Mar Bawai Soro and the clergy and deacons around him. They pledge their vote and support for their Diocese in this path of unity. They praise the name of Almighty God for giving them such privilege to become an instrument of His love among His people.
