A Scriptual Mystery
#1
November 22, 2004

Hebrews 6: 4-6 has been a scriptual mystery as recorded in the Greek NT. Perhaps the Peshitta sheds light on the explanation of these verses. Lamsa's translation is:

"But it is impossible for those who have once been baptized and have tasted the gift from heaven and have received the Holy Spirit and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come, for, for them to sin again and be renewed again by repentance they crucify the Son of God a second time and put him to open shame,"

The NIV has:

"It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him, to public disgrace."

If that means a born-again Christian who may sin is lost, and cannot be forgiven again, I am in trouble.

Comments please....
