Hi Paul:
The Khaboris Manuscript is named after the Khabour River, a tributary that runs through Syria. Assyrian Christians have lived in this area since the First Century (to my knowledge). They have suffered persecution in this area from Muslims since the 7th Century and Syria has made life unbearable in this century, by cutting off the river water to their communities, as you know.
