Question to Mr. Bauscher, about Psalm 23
#1
Hello,
I'm asking this question to Mr. Bauscher because I read somewhere in this forum that he is working in a translation of Psalms from Ambrosiano Codex, but any thoughts from any person is very welcome!
Lamsa's OT says "23:1 The Lord is my sepherd, I shall not want. 23:2 He makes me to rest in green pastures, he leads me besides still waters" (http://www.aramaicpeshitta.com/OTtools/ ... psalms.htm). And looking at CAL (http://cal1.cn.huc.edu/), we have:

???????? ???????????? ???????? ???? ???????? ?????? 23:1
23:2 ?????? ?????????? ???????????? ?????????????? ?????? ???????? ?????????? ??????????????

The translation for ???????????? is

1 to feed, to graze Com.
2 to tend flocks Com.
3 metaph.: to govern CPA.
4 to be tended Syr.

C
1 to tend Syr.

Dt
1 to heal, to care

but not "shepherd".

The translation for ?????????? is

1 meadow Syr.

not "green pastures".

I understand that CAL is based on Ambrosiano Codex. But I'm not sure about Lamsa sources.
My question is: could ???????????? and ?????????? be translated, by analogy, as "shepherd" and "green pastures"? If yes, analogy to what?
I'm specialy interested in a more detailed explanation for ???????????? since this is a verb (to feed, etc), not a noun (shepherd).
And, if possible, could you provide your own translation for this verses?

Thank you!
