I can't exactly answer those questions specifically george, sorry, but I do want to make a point seeing as I am very interested in the much-neglected Peshitta Tanakh.
There is a general problem which I think is fairly clear for all to see in the co-existence of both Samuel+Kings with Chronicles. To be frank, they don't all need to be in the canon anyway, its really got to be one or the other right? After all, why repeat the same information but with it containing differences in detail?
One intriguing thing is that Kings talks of Shlomon eventually becoming an apostate before he dies and turning away to other gods away from yhwh alaha. To my recollection, correct me if I am wrong, but Chronicles doesn't actually record this. It is of course quite a serious accusation and can we certain that Shlomon did turn away from yhwh alaha after having being so committed to him in his early times?
With reference to the numbers of things issue, I don't know if these are the alaha-inspired part of the text, but may be down to human error. In any case, as I have said, a canon should include both sets of books. It really has to be one or the other, or if possible, some kind of Diatessaron style harmony perhaps [or Tri-essaron or whatever the word for 'three' is]
