1st Experiance of The Church of the East
#18
Hi Robert and Paul,
I did go to the Church yesterday that was recommended by Robert and it was so nice and so different yet had a sense of familiarity all at the same time. I felt very welcomed right from the beginning when I walked in after it had started. All the women had scarves on their head which I was not prepared for but the women in the foyer said that I was welcome to go in the sanctuary. Fortunately, I found a basket of scarves in the back where I sat, so I borrowed one. The service went for two hours and the rabbi gave me communion after he made sure that I believed that I was taking the body of Christ. It really gave me a sense of being part of the whole body of Christ even though the whole service was in Aramaic (there was a screen with English words that I could follow). Afterwards, there was a celebration of St. George and they included me. I got to know a couple of people and met the rabbi. They were all so kind. The rabbi suggested that he put me in contact with someone higher in authority than himself in the Church of the East who has the native language of English so that he can better answer my questions.

It turns out that I was pronouncing 'Peshitta' completely wrong! <!-- s:lookround: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/lookround.gif" alt=":lookround:" title="Look Round" /><!-- s:lookround: -->

Thanks for your help and concern!!
