The Yodh Heh symbol
#2
ograabe Wrote:July 4, 2009

I would appreciate an explanation of the Yodh Heh symbol hy used by the Church of the East. I know that the three dots above the symbol represent the trinity, but what is the dot below and what does Yodh Heh represent? One presentation that I have seen has a circle surrounding the symbol, and this web site has a cross inserted between the letters. Are these variations traditional?

Thanks

Otto

Shlama Akhi Otto:
The YUD-HEH spells YAH, and is equivalent to YHVH the SON of Alaha, our LORD and Saviour Yeshua Meshikha. In that "all the fulness of the Godhead dwells in Him the three pointers of the trinity are present. As for the poimter under the HEH, I personally think it represents the Son of Alaha made manifest in flesh, The WORD.
However, there may be a more intrinsic meaning behind the symbolism that is known to members of the Assyrian Church of the East. Finally, the cross is added. You may notice that the Catholic Church uses "a LAMB lying down and embracing the cross". The overall shape looks the same to me.

Shlama,
Stephen Silver
