Today was horrible, even the heavens were weeping with a strong rain as they buried the children - and everyone was inconsolable and yet trying to console everyone else. Cassandra liked to pretend she was a little princess, so my sister Zeina (remember meeting her?) bought her a princess dress and tiara. She got Isaac a little tux. It was absolutely the most horrible thing and I wished I could have taken their places, or been there as it was happening.
About the verse, yes the grammar of the verse does allow an English understanding of "no longer with us" along with the "never were with us" understanding.
