Audio MP3 PESHITTA Online
#1
I hope that Peshitta.org will not only provide us the interlinear English-Peshitta but in the future is also able to provide us the audio version of Peshitta so that we could learn the correct pronunciation of Aramaic and memorize the Gospel by heart.

Does anyone know any web site that offer free audio version of Peshiita in Mp3 format?

While searching for Hebrew Tanakh Mp3, I found this site :

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.audioscriptures.org/audio/0328-01/main.htm">http://www.audioscriptures.org/audio/0328-01/main.htm</a><!-- m -->

offering the "Assyrian version of the Gospel of Mark" .

Can someone let me know whether it is a recitation from Peshitta or a translation into Assyrian language from English Bible?

The free Mp3 Hebrew Tanakh at that site can be dowloaded at

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.audioscriptures.org/audio/0123-01/main.htm">http://www.audioscriptures.org/audio/0123-01/main.htm</a><!-- m -->

and it is cool to listen to the Tanakh with your Ipod or any Mp3 player wherever you go.

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (Deuteronomy 6:7)

Shlama Dan,

The "Assyrian" version of Mark on the audio bible is a modern rendition (into modern aramaic) of the Peshitta.

The full printed NT is available here http://www.e-web-presence.com/aramaicboo...cts_id=102

Sorry, Dan, it's not MP3 format. I couldn't hear anything... I think it's some format which neads a particular program or aplication for listening to it.
I was so anxious to hear it!!!

Let's not putting too much pressure on Paul. Most important of all is that he translates the Peshitta, rather than recording it. What use is hearing what you cannot understand? And Paul shall decide what he will do with his time.

What program did you use?

Try Winamp or Windows Media Player.

Sorry if you have misunderstood my post. I am not pressurizing Paul to provide us the audio version of Peshitta. It is only a suggestion. It doesn't mean Paul has to record it. It would be nice if we could get some Assyrian bishops in the Middle East out there to record it. Is there any audio version of Peshitta available in the market now?

I don't know about you but as for me I learned English language by constantly listening to English songs beside reading grammars and books. I have been looking for the audio version of Tanakh for nearly 10 years now and I am glad that finally I have found it online and it is free <!-- sBig Grin --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/happy.gif" alt="Big Grin" title="Happy" /><!-- sBig Grin --> I am so happy. <!-- s:biggrin: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/biggrin.gif" alt=":biggrin:" title="Big Grin" /><!-- s:biggrin: -->

I can understand about 65% of the text of the Hebrew Tanakh. If I can constantly read it on daily basis, I am sure my Hebrew would have improved further. But I don't have the time to do that. That is why the audio version of the Bible is very useful. I might not understand the Peshitta now. But if I constantly read and listen to it daily, I am sure I can achieve something out of it.

Dear byrnesey, let me disagree with You, akhi. <!-- sHuh --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/huh.gif" alt="Huh" title="Huh" /><!-- sHuh --> Nobody puts pressure on Paul. I disagree that the translation is most important because we have many versions of translations of the Peshitta. No doubt that Paul uses special and diligent approach to the translation. His using the Estrangela letters makes his book above the other books in this matter. If he supplies his book with audio CD, it will be great progress!! The need, real need is: people need LIVE PRONUNCIATIONS and it is impossible to get it!! It is absent.
Dan writes very good about the use of audio listening.
That is the MOST IMPORTANT NEED and who can meat it???
I am looking for audio Peshitta. Somebody can help me, please?
This Mark text at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.audioscriptures.org/audio/0328-01/main.htm">http://www.audioscriptures.org/audio/0328-01/main.htm</a><!-- m --> seems not matching to the Peshitta text. <!-- sHuh --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/huh.gif" alt="Huh" title="Huh" /><!-- sHuh -->
The website <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.audioscriptures.org/audio.htm">http://www.audioscriptures.org/audio.htm</a><!-- m --> is really great and useful and helpful.

Members of the forum,

Must I remind you that Paul is recovering?

I understand that the project is of vast importance to all of you. But in this critical time, you ask for an audio tape?

So you want an audio cd from Paul? What's next? Perhaps Dead Sea coins? Or postcards from Taurus signed in estangela? Nay, you act very unappreciative.

Consider that he has a career. Consider also that he has a growing family to provide for. Consider that he has a life to live before his return onto his Lord.

The project is at a halt. I just want my friend to strengthen in health.
???Do not give up, for that is ignorance and not according to the rules of this art... Like the lover, you cannot hope to achieve success without infinite perseverance.???

Dear Paul Younan & members of the forum,

Here is the clarification about the above post by bar_khela from my point of view.

I need to remind all of you that bar_khela is a muslim who is not happy with my post in another thread regarding the persecution of the Christians in the Middle East (i.e. <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://www.peshitta.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=825">viewtopic.php?t=825</a><!-- l -->). He PMed me earlier, asking me for the evidence. I showed him the hadith of Muslim where Muhammad commanded Muslims to expel the Jews and Christians from the "Arab peninsula." Later, he told me that he does not believe in the hadith and asked me to "shut up", apologize in the forum, and challenged me for a debate. I told him that this is not the forum to debate about Islam and to bring his desire for Islamic debate elsewhere because it is against the forum rules.

From what I can see in his post, I believe he is trying to instigate Paul Younan and members of this forum against me, because in his Private Message to me (where I asked him not to PM me again after receiving 4 messages from him but to bring his desire for Islamic debates elsewhere), he threatened to get Paul to ban me like Chris(drmlanc). His post seems to try to put me in bad light as someone who is very demanding, unappreciative, and inconsiderate of Paul's health.

This poster has grudges against me because a few months back when he debated drmlanc about Islam in this forum, I asked them not to debate about Islam in this forum but to debate it elsewhere as it is a waste of bandwidth and diskspace. Paul deleted the thread later and came out with a forum rules.

If you look at my post, I didn't ask Paul to record the audio Peshitta "in this critical time"(sic) but just stating my hope that there will be an audio project of the Peshitta in the future and also asking members in this forum about the audio Assyrian recitation of Gospel of Mark where Dean Dana promptly replied.

We can find free audio Greek New Testament online, and in fact I have the cassettes of Greek New Testament recited by Spiros Zodhiates which is very useful to me in learning correct Greek pronunciation and memorize some New Testament text in Greek by heart. There is nothing wrong with desiring to see the audio version of Peshitta available online. As a matter of fact, I appreciate the works of Paul a lot in helping me to understand Peshitta better. That is why I have been propagating Aramaic Gospels in the chat rooms, Christian forum, and also a strong desire to make a web site propagating Aramaic Peshitta in the future, and making Peshitta related sites ranked higher in major search engines for certain keywords.

Let put this matter to rest and concentrate on Peshitta & Aramaic.

Peace to all.

I actually do sympathise with you Dan Gan. I find it abhorrent if Christians like this Chris and yourself would be banned from a Christian forum, due to the actions of those who aren't Christian. But don't get too worked up about it, Paul would never betray his friends and supporters would he? <!-- s:bigups: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/bigups.gif" alt=":bigups:" title="Big Ups" /><!-- s:bigups: -->

Shlama akhi Valentin,

To download the Modern Assyrian Gospel of Mark all you need to do is to click the button "Go" near the selection list box at the following page :

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.audioscriptures.org/audio/0328-01/NT/02_mark.htm">http://www.audioscriptures.org/audio/03 ... 2_mark.htm</a><!-- m -->

To download the Hebrew Tanakh, all you need to do is to select the book that you want at the selection list box with the word "High Speed Internet" and then press the button "Go". The total size of the Tanakh is 683MB. But it is divided into 39 books. You can download it book by book at the following page :

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.audioscriptures.org/audio/0123-01/OT/OT.htm">http://www.audioscriptures.org/audio/0123-01/OT/OT.htm</a><!-- m -->

I am glad that I have a broadband connection. Whether you have fast connection or not , it doesn't matter because it is worth downloading. You got to try it akhi! I am enjoying listening to the Tanakh now. I didn't know that it takes 203 minutes to read the book of Exodus. <!-- s:bigups: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/bigups.gif" alt=":bigups:" title="Big Ups" /><!-- s:bigups: --> Better than listening to pop songs out there.

<!-- s:listen: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/listen.gif" alt=":listen:" title="Listen" /><!-- s:listen: -->

It is good for Paul to make some screening, e.g. in the questionaire should be mandatory question about religion conviction to prevent contamination of this forum.
It is meant not to automatically exclude them but pay special attention to their behavior.
Dan, I listen to the files and enjoy listening. Is it possible to save these files on computer harddrive? Thank You.
