Clarification on Peshitta OT
#1
Was the Old Testament originally written in Hebrew or Aramaic, Syrian?

Evidence is accumulating the New Testament was originally in aramaic so did
these people have an aramaic Old Testament or was it Hebrew?

Trying to fill in some gaps in my understanding.

The Old Testament was originally compiled in Hebrew and some Imperial Aramaic (mostly in Daniel and Ezra with a few older Aramaic words here and there). Syriac as a distinct Aramaic dialect is not that old.

They did have "Aramaic OTs" in the form of Targums (Aramaic paraphrases of the OT) as well. But the original language of the OT was Hebrew, as brother Steve said.
