hard for you to kick the stakes

Acts 9:5 & 26:14

Shaul! Shaul! Why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick the stakes. (pricks in some translations)

Is "kick the stakes" an Aramaic idiom?
If so please explain.

Shlama:
The Aramaic word at the end of Acts 9:4, "l'aqsa" means cattle prod. Search Acts 9 on the Peshitta Tool at http://www.dukhrana.com.

"It is hard for you to kick against the cattle-prod".

I'm new at this but I find l'awqsa in the Younan NT

one "A" is Aleph and one is Ayin.
Are they much different?

I search the words lawqsa, laqsa. l'aqsa
I found nothing.

You will have a better response if you spell teh word in Aramaic instead of its English transliteration.

CT, enter (wqs) in the "root" category, and you will find its inflections.

That search came up with Sting, goad

I don't understand I got the letters l'(wqs) and yet Steven Silver had a word without the "W"

its confusing. I look up thanks and get the following.

Verb - yd) confess, thanks, profess, promise

the inflections are numerous and give me no idea what they mean.

If I was to try and write 'Thanks'.

would it be yda or yoda or yeda or..?
