2011 Syriac Symposium
#1
The information below was posted on assyrianchurch.com and I thought it would be of interest to some on this forum as well.

--------------------------

Hi all,

I wasn't sure where to post this, but for those interested the 6th North American Symposium on Syriac Christianity will be held on June 26-29, 2011 at Duke University in North Carolina. The best and brightest scholars in the field of Syriac studies from around the world (including India and China) will be lecturing.

I've included a link that outlines all the topics that will be discussed at the forum:
http://syriacsymposium.trinity.duke.edu/about

If you know any theologians in the Assyrian community that might want to present their work at the symposium please refer them to this link: http://syriacsymposium.trinity.duke.edu/call-for-papers.

There seems to be room for research done by linguists and translators as well. The committee will also evaluate research from students or independent scholars. It would be nice if the Assyrian community was represented.

Anyway, I've already registered and will attend the lectures.

Mary

*Shamasha Paul, if you read this, see if you can talk to someone from our church to either send you (since you are more versed than most) and/or Mar Awa to represent us collectively.

Shlama Akhan Nimrud.

That is a great opportunity. I'm not sure if they would be open to the topics I would prefer to present on . But Mar Awa would definitely be a great representative from our tradition on the less controversial topics.
