Shlama,

here's my very tardy offering to this (no pun intended, really!):

Romans 7:21-23
21 I find, therefore, a law that agrees unto my mind: that I desire that I should perform good, because wrong is near to me.
22 For I rejoice in the Instruction of Alaha, in the inner son of man,
23 but I see another instruction in my limbs, that battles to oppose the Instruction of my mind, and captivates me to the instruction of sin that is in my limbs.

James 4:1-2, 8 & 12
1 From where are there among you wars and conflicts? Are they not from the lusts that are warring in your members?
2 You lust, and there is nothing for you; you kill and you are jealous, and it does not come into your hands; and you strive and you war, and there is nothing for you, because you do not ask.
...
8 and draw near towards Alaha, and He shall draw near to you. Purify your hands, sinners! Set-apart your hearts, you of the divided soul!
...
12 For there is One who sets the Instruction, and is the Judge: that One able to make alive and to destroy! Yet who are you, that you make judgment unto your neighbor?

Hebrews 5:1
1 For every Great Priest that is from the sons of men stands in place of the sons of men concerning those things that are of Alaha, that he should bring near the offerings and the sacrifices in place of sins,

i'm sure there are more in the text, but these are the ones i've run across so far in my readings that stood out.

also in the story of the "Good Samaritan" we also see that the man who became the "neighbor" was he who "drew near" to the one who had been beaten, so that the effect of the story is that Yeshu'a literally TOLD THE ANSWER right in the middle of His story! it was obvious to everyone - the one who drew near was the neighbor, since they are merely inflections of the same root. i originally considered it as a possible Janus Parallel, but akhi Andrew noted the definitions arose from the same idea, so that knocked that idea to the ground. <!-- sSad --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt="Sad" title="Sad" /><!-- sSad --> oh well, there are others with much better attestation - but that's another topic!
