Luqa 14:26: hate or put aside?
#1
I read in the book "Was the New Testament really written in greek?" this translation and it makes more sense to me if it?s "put aside".

What do you think about it?.

Sure

This is just semitic thought.

There was a Arabic movie, where children were told to 'hate oneself' It clearly was not talking about the western definition, but about 'putting aside ones interests'

Armaaic and Hebrew thought is exactly the same, when Rachal and Lea (two wifes) had competition. Jakob was said to 'have hated Lea' while this is not the real meaning, he just had more preference for Rachel.
