John 12:40 - HOT, GNT vs PNT, LXX, POT
#1
According to HOT and GNT, God is quite "nasty" and blinded the eyes of these people so that they could not repent - which contradicts 2Peter and 2Tim where He wants all to repent...

PNT, LXX and POT all say that they blinded themselves.

No wonder, the PNT is original NT, and LXX and POT are closer to the original OT than is the Massoretic HOT.

This also rubbishes the claim that the GNT takes its OT quotes from the LXX. If it had, we would have had a far better reading in the Greek.

The Septuagint has this reading...revealing that God did not do it, they did it themselves.

Isaiah 6:10 "...and they have closed their eyes; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.???

What is the POT reading for this verse?

Shlama,

Peshitta Isaiah 6:10 says, "For the heart of this people has been (has become) hardened, they have deafened their ears and have closed their eyes, so that they do not see with their eyes, neither hear with their ears, nor understand with their heart, nor (have any) regret nor are they pardoned."

Hi Akhi,

What do you mean? It's freely available here on the website. I know Akhan Dean makes a printed copy available at http://www.aramaicbooks.com - did you pick one up from him?
