Aramaic Primacy Debate on the Assyrian Church Forum
#1
Shlama all,

A hot debate on Aramaic Primacy has erupted on the Assyrian Church forum and I'm to blame for it. I replied to a post on this thread by answering the most common Zorban arguments and now the forum admin (Robert Khanisho) has requested that someone who is well verse in the topic join me in the discussion. Of course I of know better place than here to find such a person, so who wants to join in?
Shalom, Shlama, Salaam & Yiasou.

Shlama Kathi Christina,

Well done. I have read your post and you do not seem there in need of much help. However, I have noted that the deabate seems to be with one person only, called Senalko. Good you have challenged his views. In another post on that other forum Senalko wrote himself:

Quote:I also joined that Forum [i.e. Peshitta.org/Forum] and although i had a very good and healthy discussions with many members, i did not continue going there, simply because the purpose of that Forum is purely on the primacy and importance of the Peshita Translations. Its rules strictly forbids any Christian discussions or biblical discussions so i didnt feel the need to be there.

Obviously he doesn't seem to be at the stage/need of discussion of the Aramaic Primacy and happy to have his current views. If he had any questions he would be discussing them here as he is aware of this place (I'm wondering since when and under what nick, but I'm probably overcurious).

Why not move the discussion here? Especially as you have it there in a middle of a thread on another subject. When I was studying I was walking to the university, not the university to me - for simple reason there were other people interested in the same subject. It would be clearer, simpler. This seems to be a proper place. Just a thought.

Makes no difference to me really, just passing on Robert's (the forum admin) request, though he's free to come to this forum if he so chooses. As for Senalko's post, well I guess I just saw the usual Zorban dribble and felt inspired to write a concise (well sort of) and to the point rebuttal to it on this occasion. Since the Church of the East has more Peshitta primacists than any other church (go figure) addressing Aramaic primacy on their forum will be more fruitful and generate much healthier debates than on other Christian forums (for obvious reasons, example: http://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=91819), and while we can't venture too deeply into the theological implications of Aramaic primacy here we can do so there.

BTW Senalko is registered here as Eddie Yousif, he's only posted here a few times (figured it out from his MSN messenger name).
Shalom, Shlama, Salaam & Yiasou.

Shlama Akhay,

It's interesting this has come up now....Christina, Qasha Genard has invited me to come down to Australia this year to present on Aramaic and Peshitta primacy. So I am really looking forward to meeting with the community down there and also presenting our viewpoint!

Shlama Akhi Paul,

If and when you go down there, could you please make a recording, be it a video or audio recording, or the lecture?

I'd like it for my own reference when preaching peshitta primacy, but also, if you choose to, you could put it on youtube for the mass of christians there to look at and think about. Anyway.
