Bukharian Jews
#1
Shalom uV'rakha:
I've stumbled upon an incredible book written in 1815 by the Rev. Hugh McNeile called Popular Lectures on the Prophesies Relative To The Jewish Nation.

Hopefully, you will be able to download the PDF without difficulty.

The last chapter, Ten Lost Tribes, (page 202) is about the Bukharian Jews ("bakhar", is Hebrew for "chosen", however the similarity between "Bukhara" and "bakhar" may be purely coincidental.)

Encyclopedia Iranica mentions that the name Bukhara is possibly derived from the Soghdian ??ux??rak ("Place of Good Fortune"). Nevertheless, "Place of Good Fortune" and "Chosen", being synonyms is an uncanny coincidence indeed.

The author gives evidence that these people are the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel, who were carried off by the Assyrians. (II Kings 17:6)

What's more is that Bukharian Jews have a web site as well.
