Church of the East Calendar
#1
Shlama,

I'm looking for an up to date Church of the East Calendar. The ones I'm finding online are outdated. My son said he could "work a script up" that would work online and keep the observances (feasts, lectionary readings) up to date. The one on the Australia/New Zealand Diocese stopped on April 2007. The one on the St. Rabban Hormizd Parish site ends this month.

The calendar used previously by my family seems to match up quite a bit with the Lectionary here but the COE calendars he has shown me online are a bit different in certain areas. Maybe this is because of the change in the calendar a little while back?

Any help would be appreciated.

shlom lokh akh Yaaqub,

I tried looking at the 2009 Calendar for the Chaldean, to see if they match up with the COE dates (especially since there have been attempts to bring these two Churches closer), but unfortunately they don't.

I would probably wait on Mar Rabban Hormizd Church, just in case they decide to release the 2009 one.

P.S. Funny that you should mention a desire to make an electronically dynamic version; I'm currently working on a static one for Syriac Maronite Church (to get the complete collection of item events), and the year after that I'll be trying to create a dynamic one for the web.

Shlama Akhi,

Thanks for the link. The calendar on your site has stunning/beautiful artwork/iconography. Very beautiful!

tawdi! I'm happy that you like it; your words gives me good encouragements that I'm on the right track!

I have made available most of the icons of Syriac Maronite Church on-line:
-Flickr limited me to 200 images on this one => http://www.flickr.com/photos/31290998@N04/
-This one has the seven divisions of the year, but I haven't put up all the icons yet (not limited like on Flickr to 200) => http://picasaweb.google.com/beithsouryoyemorounoye

Hi Yaaqub,

I know that the Church of the East calendar for 2009 has been released but I'm not sure when it will be put up online. If you happen to live near a CoE parish, you would be able to pick up a copy. If not, they might be able to mail you a copy.
