If a biblical "day" starts at sunset, then...

when is night being referred to? Nighttime would be only a few hours after the "day" has just begun, right? There isnt necessarily an ERROR in this thought, just thought it was a bit strange.

Not sure if I understand you correctly, but I was taught that a "day" starts at "erew" and then "boker" follows, as in Bereshit 1:5. Night is when there is no light, again beginning of Parsha Bereshit. Just trying to understand your question ...
