ONLINE BIBLE

Please look at the ONLINE BIBLE at http://www.onlinebibleusa.com/

It is free and has dozens of electronic Bible texts that can be copied for careful study.

Go to the "Download Page" ignoring the unlock for-sale stuff and you will find a terrific list of free electronic Bible texts including the Jewish Publication Society Old Testament 1917 in Hebrew, Jerome's Vulgate in Latin. At very reasonable price are many others for sale including the Lamsa translation of the whole Bible, etc.....

Under ANCIENT TEXTS you will find a dowloadable copy of the "Peshitta Syriac New Testament" which I believe is really the 1905-20 British and Foreign Bible Society text with the Crawford Revelation. But I am not certain. The font is Ashuri. Please look at it and see what you think.

Sincerely,

Otto

Here is some guidance for acceessing the ONLINEBIBLE.

Go to http://www.onlinebibleusa.com and click on the red "Windows Online Bible" near the top left side of the page. Next click on the green "CLICK HERE FOR OUR DOWNLOAD SECTION" near the top of this new page. Now scroll down to the group of "Ancient Texts" and you will see the "Peshitta Syriac New Testament" ready for download. Before you can download the Peshitta and view it you must go back up that page to "English Programing Free Downloads" and download the free Online Bible program. Follow the instructions and then go back and download the Peshitta text and install it.

If you have any problems with the Online BIble you can call the friendly man who oversees this program at (519) 767-2266 (Noon to 5 pm EST) and he will pleasantly walk you through it.

Otto,

OLB Peshitta module is ALMOST the same as the printed edition. The (very minor) differences are in the following verses:

> 1. AC 21:30 - first occurence of of the word KLH (whole), (i.e. second word in the verse) is missing in OLB
> 2. AC 23:26 - additional word in OLB
> 3. 1CO 2:11 - word anoshoa is missing in OLB
> 4. 1P 2:20 - OLB: additional alap in the word walcyn
> 5. Re 19:17 - one word missing in OLB
> 6. Re 22:21 - OLB has three shin letters at the end

These are the results of a comparison that I have run In March 2008. I had compared OLB electronic text with another electronic text of the Peshitta downloaded from one of the Peshitta web sites. The results of that automated comparison I have then compared with "The New Testament in Syriac" edition printed in 1966 (it is a reprint of BFBS 1905-1920 edition of the Peshitta).

Peace and blessings,
Jerzy

P.S. Info for Palm users - The OLB Peshitta text can be displayed on a PalmOS, in Ashuri script. It has been converted from the OLB module by Alexander Pruss and is available as a module of one of the free Bible programs for the Palm (PalmBiblePlus).
