Question About Aramaic Bible
#1
Shlama,

If anyone has a copy of the Bible offered at the following link, could you tell me what script it is written in please?

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://assyrianmarket.com/bible-in-old-aramaic.html">http://assyrianmarket.com/bible-in-old-aramaic.html</a><!-- m -->

I've emailed them directly with the question over a week ago and still haven't received an answer, so hopefully someone here has the info to help a brother out.

Shlama!

The appearance and description of the Bible matches one that I have. It is written in the Eastern / Madn?????y?? script, also often inaccurately referred to as the Nestorian script.

I really like this Peshitta edition. Only problem I have with it is the size, I wish it would have been a little bigger, but then again its size makes it easy to carry with you :-)

Shlama Lars,

ah, thank you very much! <!-- s:biggrin: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/biggrin.gif" alt=":biggrin:" title="Big Grin" /><!-- s:biggrin: --> so for the size, are we talking something akin to "the little red book" Peshitta? that's the one i have, as well as the much larger Peshitto offered for free at <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.torahwellsprings.org">www.torahwellsprings.org</a><!-- w -->, so i was looking for something in-between in size with a script i am familiar with.

perhaps i'll just have to wait for Mari!

Shlama Jeremy,

The Peshitta at assyrianmarket.com is "the little red book"'s brother, "the little blue book". They are the same, just the color of the cover that is different. I have it in both red and blue :-) So no need to get this one if you already have the red one. The reason I have two, is that one was a gift from a special person that I want to save, while the other is for daily usage.

I have yet to find a perfect sized Peshitta that uses the Eastern script :-(

The only "perfect" sized Peshitta (Peshitto) I have is one by UBS, it contains both the OT and NT, but it uses the Serto script (which in itself is a fine script, just that I prefer the Eastern script as it is more beautiful to the eyes), and the OT lacks vowel signs, so it is more troublesome for me to read.
