Your post is quite unreferenced, I don't know andrews writing on this, but 'cross' is in fact from latin origin (crux) while the Greek (stauros, xulon) and Aramaic words ( NeZD'QeP, zqipeh) for the 'thing' that Jesus died on, is wood or stake.
When the people cried: "Hang him!" they said something like and Aramaic word NeZD'QeP which means: "Lift him up."
Anyway, I don't really care since arguing whether or not it was a cross or not, is as important as a grain of sand.
