Any NEW Information On Mari/P.E.A.C.E. ?
#2
Shlama Akhi Albion,

Yes dear brother, there is some news. I have been trying to not post every little tidbit but wait for milestones so folks don't think me pretentious on this matter.

Yes, we are still looking for a PESACH release, and the first day of PESACH is--wait for it--

14 Nisan, so no problem right???

Okay, okay, I know. You wanted a GREGORIAN date--the great Chag begins April 20th and ends 7-8 days later depending on who you talk to. But this year there is no debate on Pesach between the major rabbinic and Karaite camps. The barley in Israel as of March 8th was NOT in Aviv and the Rabbinic calendar calls for 2 Adar as well. I think Avi ben Mordechai and Nehemiah Gordon, along with other Karaite bodies that I have also heard from, are pretty reliable authorities on this matter.

Because of the activities of someone who will remain nameless, I am determined not to pre-promote excessively or take pre-publication orders, and this is why no official Mari announcement exists on my websites or at the Netzari Press website, which is still being developed. My main activities right now are triple checking "Mari Main"--the English portion. I found that bunches of notes I had intended my publisher to enter dealing with Khabouris/1905 variances were not done, so I put them in a few days ago--more than 60 in all. The footnote count now stands at 1400 exactly. The last pass on the Aramaic files is rapdily being done. Not that I didn't think these things weren't fine before, but when you see the need to back track on one section it just makes sense to double check the others. None of these things should delay Mari however, as I plan to hand it all off (or rather back) by March 24th.

I have also added to existing footnotes either because I thought topics addressed in the Appendix needed more clarity at the base text level or because a question on this forum inspired me to go deeper--most recently my answer to Reverend Bauscher's query on Hebrews 4:8, which per Paul Younan's request I am not adding to the thread.

We are still fixing a price, but I don't know that figure yet. I am debating whether to give a fairly certain range of it here or not.

In terms of electronic stuff though, there has been an interesting minor development. There are certain long sections of articles that we may release as free downloads for Mari purchasers that get a special access code. This is being worked on, but is secondary to getting the physical volume out. However, given Christina's interest in this idea, I asked my publisher, as long as he was looking at electronic editions (or short books, if you will) for some of the Mari material to entertain the prospect of making all of Mari available in this form. I just asked about this today and have not heard back yet.

It is funny though in a way that after all this time I am only just getting to sit down and read it as an "outside person" though I am not for the first time. Not surprisingly, and at the risk of sounding downright weird if not self-praising, it really seems to read very well. Albion, honestly man, based on what you have shared with me publically and privately, I think just the English portion alone will meet a lot of your needs, and the Aramaic will of course prove more helpful still. I assure you this is ALL REAL. IT IS COMING.
