Acts 28:22 different renderings?
#1
Shlama,

Acts 28:22 seems to read in the following from Aramaic:

but we want to hear of what you think, because we know that this teaching is not accepted by anyone. - Acts 28:22

But Lamsa has this:

Nevertheless, we desire to hear what you have to say, but if it is concerning this teaching, we know well that it is not acceptable to any one, and we do not want to hear about it.

Which is very different from the first rendering above. Albion, or others, could you provide what some other renderings of this verse have from Peshitta?

Thanks in advance.

'The Way International Aramaic/English Interlinear' Acts 28:22

"But we desire to hear from you what you think, because we know that this doctrine is not accepted by men."

Victor Alexander's 'Disciples New Testament' Acts 28:22

"We wish to hear from you what you have to show, however, because [regarding] this knowledge we know that it is not well received."

Victor Alexander's FOOTNOTE for Acts 28:22: "Literal Aramaic expression": "Upon human being not received".

Janet Magiera's "Peshitta New Testament"

Acts 28:22: "Now we want to hear from you what you think, because we know that this teaching is not accepted by men."

Shlama Albion,

Thanks for showing the text from these other editions/translations.

It's interesting how each one translates "yulpana" in a different way. "teaching, doctrine, knowledge" and even "sect".

I wonder if there is a relation to the Hebrew word "ulpan" which means teaching, class, or instruction, etc.
