Other Sheep/John 10:16
#1
This is my first time posting here. I'm glad that I found this site.

I have a question that I hope someone can help me with.

In John 10:16 of an Aramaic Bible translation that I recently purchased there is a phrase, "other sheep."

I'm unfamiliar with Aramaic and attempted to research that phrase online for clarity. I was surprised how difficult it was to sift through the various lexicons. Definitely not like a Strong's Concordance <!-- sBlush --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/blush.gif" alt="Blush" title="Blush" /><!-- sBlush --> .

Anyway, I tracked down the words (16206/7676). I was curious if someone could give me or direct me to the phoenetic pronunciation of these words.

Thanks for any help.

Shlama,

Paul or someone else may have a different dialect they can share on this phrase, but the way I pronounce this is "irba akhrona" "eerbah ah-khrow-nah"

Hi!

The P'shittas I have ("little red book and UBS") have the words vocalized as such: ??erb?? (??)?????r??n?? (erbe khraane) both words being plural and emphatic.

Here is also a link to an analysis of the verse:

Thanks for the links and the prompt response.

Since I've started the discussion, can anyone recommend some good software packages for learning aramaic?

Thanks for giving me a good first push here.
