I don't like verse-by-verse format as much myself, but it doesn't bother me. If someone was to ask me what the best Peshitta translation is I would say John Wesley Etheridge's. It's very literal (sometimes difficult to read) and accurate, sticks close to the Eastern text, and uses Aramaic terminology. I wish Aramaic Peshitta New Testament Translation: Messianic Version had all of the footnotes that the standard edition has, but despite that I prefer reading the Messianic Version. I was raised in and still attend a non-denominational church in small-town Kentucky so of course I wasn't raised to know Hebrew or Aramaic (or Greek for that matter), so I am quite amazed that I've started to want to use "Yeshua" instead of "Jesus" in personal conversation when talking about the Lord, and sometimes I find myself thinking about the Messiah with the name "Yeshu" or "Yeshua" instead of as "Jesus". Small things, but it shows what an interesting effect studying the Peshitta, Aramaic, and Aramaic primacy will do to your thinking <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s -->
