The "Split Word" thread
#3
Shlama Chris,

The literary term for what you're calling a 'split word' is a 'polysemous' word, coming from the concept of 'polysemy' - lit.,'multiple meanings'. The Hebrew Bible is full of word plays that exploit polysemic roots in Hebrew, which allows for more than one interpretation of the text. So, to see one Greek tradition interpreting it one way and another tradition interpreting another is very interesting indeed.

Blessings,
Rob
