Aramaic newbie - recommendation on NT with vowels
#1
Hi all,

I'm looking for recommendations on the purchase of an Aramaic NT with vowel pointings.

By way of explanation I came across Dave Bauscher's <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.aramaicnt.com">http://www.aramaicnt.com</a><!-- m --> and after some research I've purchased his translation and interlinear. Love it.

So now I'm looking to learn Aramaic for long term study. The resource I'm using for learning Aramaic, <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.introlessonsinaramaic.com">http://www.introlessonsinaramaic.com</a><!-- m --> and Dave Bauscher's work both use the square script, so if I could find an Aramaic NT book with vowel pointings in the square script that would be ideal, however it appears to me that the square script and Aramaic are usually only found together in the Old Testament.

However, there seem to be a plethora of scripts (Syriac, Estrangela...) and how does one choose. Its like trying to buy a car having never driven one. I'm hoping someone learned on this forum could give me a heads up on a recommendation for an Aramaic NT with vowel pointings, or a least the main choices and why.

Here is what I'm thinking at the moment:-
- After the online lessons at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.introlessonsinaramaic.com">http://www.introlessonsinaramaic.com</a><!-- m -->, I think I'll get the grammar "Aramaic Grammar Vol.1 by Rev. Thomas Arayathinal". Can someone please tell me what script this volume uses and what Aramaic NT book would be recommended to go with it.
- Alternatively, I could choose an Aramaic NT based on the script which has the best study resources and Lexicons. Comments welcome here too.

Thank you for your assistance
Stephen
