Interesting marg. note, James 1:1
#1
Shlama,

I found an interesting marginal note in my great grandfather's Judeo-Aramaic Peshitta for James 1:1.

He renders this as "avda d'MarYah Alaha, Maran Yeshua Mshikha" (servant of MarYah God, our Lord Yeshua Messiah)

and has a note for the Christian-Aramaic (Eastern Aramaic, Peshitta): "avdeh d'Alaha wa'd'Maran Yeshua Mshikha" (servant of God and of our Lord Yeshua Messiah)

But the more interesting note is one I can't find any references to anywhere: "But when he prays in Jilu he says, 'MarYah Yeshua Mshikha, Alahan [smeared writing appears as if it was once connected to the word "Alahan", but is no longer readable]'"

I don't know if he's referring to James 1:1, which it is referenced in corresponding color for that section of verses, or if he was simply making a random note. If he's referring to the verse in particular, I can't make a connection. Perhaps he's referring to a particular prayer. <!-- sHuh --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/huh.gif" alt="Huh" title="Huh" /><!-- sHuh -->
