Kandisa
#1
I am posting in this forum because I read that Aramaic is still used in the Church of the East.

A group called ???Indian Ocean??? has come out with an ancient song in Aramaic called ???Kandisa???. This is the website where I found and purchased the song/hymn: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://ww.smashits.com/music/pop/songs/4551/kandisa.html">http://ww.smashits.com/music/pop/songs/ ... ndisa.html</a><!-- m -->

This is where I found the lyrics: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://vaibhav.livejournal.com/90031.html">http://vaibhav.livejournal.com/90031.html</a><!-- m -->.

I have been trying to find a translation. The closest I got was this: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.zimblymallu.com/2005/02/kandisa-translation.html">http://www.zimblymallu.com/2005/02/kand ... ation.html</a><!-- m -->

I wrote to ???Indian Ocean??? in hopes that they might help me, but they said that they had not been able to find one because the language is no longer spoken. The story is that an angel taught it to Joseph of Arimathea and that it was used at Jesus??? burial. They asked me to send them a translation if I ever found one.

It is so beautiful to listen to. I wondered if anyone on your forum would be knowledgeable enough to come up with a translation. In any case, I hope that it strengthens you as it has strengthened me.
