1 Thessalonians 2:2
#1
October 27, 2004

Near the end of 1 Thessalonians 2:2 my Greek interlinear reads "good news of GOD", but both Murdock and Lamsa have "gospel of the MESSIAH". I wonder if there is a Greek manuscript variant of this verse that has "Christ" instead of "God", or is the Peshitta unique in this wording. Clearly, "gospel of the Messiah" makes more sense.

I have the Logos version of NA27, but I can't find any reference to an alternate reading in this verse.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer. I would like to learn how to research these variants.
