The Gnostic Gospels...

Are written in Aramaic right? I had heard that Nam Hammadi had scattered remains of Greek manucripts that supercede the Syriac ones.

Anyone know about this?

I thinks its Greek Dialect called Coptic (?) I am not sure, I think it varies. The Gospel of Thomas is written very specically in a sort of Greekish style of writing.

They are constantly referred to Coptic Text, not sure if thats the language or another sort of noun... <!-- sBig Grin --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/happy.gif" alt="Big Grin" title="Happy" /><!-- sBig Grin -->

Shlama akhi Rob,

The Nag Hammadi Gnostic manuscripts are all written in Coptic, the last phase of the ancient Egyptian language. Some scholars believe that certain names and terms, present in some of the manuscripts, show an Aramaic or Semitic precursor, but this is purely speculative.
