A Freakishly Simple Primacy Proof
#31
Shlama Khulkon:
I'm monitorintg this topic closely to see that it stays on topic. The debate between Greek Primacy and Aramaic Primacy is very important and for this reason we need to gather crucial historical data from many sources. It's a hot topic and tempers must not flare up but grace must be shown at all times by all parties.

Zardak:
You have been reprimanded but I do not want you to misconstrue this with a much stronger action that could be taken. You are not a child. Nevertheless show substance and have a decent debate, rather than what you have produced so far. Peshitta Primacists are extremely passionate and there are very few forum sites where they can share the truth as they/we understand it. It's a tough thing to be surrounded by hundreds of Christian Forums where tempers boil over if one even raises the subject of Aramaic Primacy and Peshitta Primacy. It's hard to learn anything in that kind of atmosphere since you don't get even a nod of support, but hear over and over that you are a heretic, both blind and deaf. This besides the personal attacks of those who call themselves brothers and sisters but do not show grace. As long as I am Forum Moderator, http://www.peshitta.org will not stoop to those kinds of behaviours, no not on my watch.

Quote:I repeat, the very thing you guys are avoiding, Paul wrote a lot of his epistles to the Epesians, Corinthians, etc correct? Well we know Aramaic wasn't their language, it was Greek. End of story, end of Aramaic primacy thesis.
I do disagree to this. This is a guessing, not a proof.

I live in USA for about 16 years and still far from being perfect in English although I knew English while still being in Ukraine.
If I were to write to an English church that I founded and care a lot to let them know what I want to tell them.
I would write it in my native Ukrainian language expressing my deep thoughts and then tell to my fluently bilingual friend: See, translate it into English to make it perfect and correct and if you have any questions I am here to answer and then we send to the church because I want them to know exactly what I mean.
Let us look at the textual research not a relative guessings.

IPOstapyuk, Take a plane flight to Ephesus today please, now when you get there, ring me and tell me what language they are speaking! Sheeesh! What you guys are saying, is that Aramaic was the dominant language in Greece and that Paul wrote to them all in Aramaic, and then by some astounding miracle, everyone in Greece migrated back to the Greek language, which is what they speak today. Did you actually read ACTS 21:37, go, read it, then come and tell me what it means, seeing as you won't take my clear, precise, articulate explanation. You guys are unbelievable!

If someone is so entrenched in their theories about whatever subject, they look down on everyone. Years of studying Aramaic primacy has been a waste of life. Spend your time serving God, and drop the unfounded thesis. Knowledge about what, irrelevant but interesting bits of history that can be bent to support Aramaic primacy if one really wants it to? Can i say what God said, is that by the rules? "Knowledge puffs up" And let me add to that, the puffed up bit means "proud" and pride blinds because a person is too puffed up to see the simple truth. I have given many relevant verses with pertinent explanations. Thats is all thats needed, intelligence and common sense, not puffed up pseudo intellectualism, and an obsessed interest in a theory.

Why did Paul say in his epistle to the Galatians: "Howbeit then, that when you didn't know God, you did service to them which are not God's." Devout Jews, and Proselytes were not worshiping idols were they, correct! So Paul was not writing to Jews, he was writing to majority GREEK SPEAKING GREEKS. How many more examples do you need. God gives us common sense. My Greek friend knows his own history well, as does my "ultra orthodox Jewish Rabbi historian father. You guys need to drop all the speculations, hearsay and conjecture. Yes the Aramaic is an interesting alternative which gives us a possible alternative at the "few" times the Greek is ambiguous, but thats all its good for.
You people are impossible. Do you really want the truth, i have given it. I can see you will be here until your 100 years old still researching, when the truth has been staring you in the face all along. I've give very relevant information and good explanations in all my posts, just read my posts again properly and use your brain this time, my answers contain everything one needs to quickly get to the truth of the matter.

Zardak,

I have two questions for you.

1: Do you believe that The Aramaic Scriptures are the Word of God?

2: Do you believe that The Aramaic Scriptures are the Word of God?

Zardak seems to be unaware that Ephesus today is just an archaeological site in modern day Turkey. Definitely can't land a plane there. Nor will you hear a word of Greek. Instead, you'll hear a central Asian mongoloid language called Turkic.

whatever, you pick any place in Greece today where the ancient places are still in Greek territory today, you know what i was getting at. My point is that most all of these places were speaking Greek and still are today.

What happens in the Eurozone heads of state meetings, most of the time even despite their multitude of primary tongue differences, they default to English, the common binding language for all of them. Well exactly the same in ancient Greece, even those who had spoke minority languages would have all defaulted to the common language, know one has to be an historian to know that. Corinth was a Roman colony and the Romans strongly embraced the Greek language. Greek was the binding language of Greece "despite" all its ethnic and cultural influences, every knows that. And all the different city-states in ancient Greece tended to worship the same Gods despite their strong preference for individual government and identity. The Greek language was the common bond, and Galatia certainly wasn't in Egypt was it. You get my point, so lets see reason here, let us come together in Brotherhood and start "acknowledging" what we all really know.

Zardak,

Do you consider the Eastern Aramaic Scriptures to be the Word of God in Aramaic? Or must all those who speak and read its language, have to learn Greek, or English, so they can read Panin's edition? And did they not have God's Holy Word/Message these last 2000 years or so?

We can debate which came 1st all our lives...but the bigger question is...ARE THEY GOD'S, or just mans words???

If you say they are not God's in a certain place...then show me where.

Zardak,

My grandparents lived for over 20 years in Athens before their entry to the united states was approved. My uncles were born there. They all spoke Aramaic there, and still did in Chicago. I don't think you understand that just because someone is in Greece or Chicago, doesn't mean they know the language or are proficient in it. They knew enough to make it tolerable, but the language they spoke at home, with relatives and especially at church was neo-Aramaic. And it still is.

I still have family in Greece and Lebanon and Syria and Iraq and Australia and Russia. We all write letters and emails to each other in Aramaic. They live and work in those countries, so obviously they have a proficiency in those local languages. But Aramaic is their main tongue and what binds the family and community together. Read about the Assyrian refugee communities in Greece. Lots of articles on the Internet.
