Dear Dave,

Please calm down. Nothing I said was an attack on you or Jesus as you seem to think. You have every right to believe every word in the Bible as true as I have ever right to ONLY believe the teachings that touch my heart are true. I do not believe Jesus was a madman as you are accusing me.. quite the opposite, I believe he was the only completely sane person to ever live... but he knew nothing of physics or engineering so I am not sure where you got that... but those things don't matter to me in religion and to me, yes, religion is more of a philosophy... why that bothers you so much speaks more of you than me.. it is my right just like the billion people on the earth, not all believe everythign exactly as you do and even those that consider themselves chrisitian do not all agree on the same interpretation of the bible. Yes, I came here to learn more about the Peshitta so I could get as unadulterated and uncorrupted a view of the teachings of Jesus whose spirit of how I should be as a person rings divine to me... if you want to bible thump me in the head every time you don't like my opinion as you just did, then I suggest you do it in church, for this is a forum meant for open disccusion, freedom of speech and opinion, and last I checked I lived in a ocuntry with those freedoms and freedom of religion so you have no right to dictate to me as it appears you are.. insult away if that is how you behave, but it is so unchrisitian of you and shows me you don't really understand the message that I feel I do from Jesus... yes, my guru

Take care and best wishes... and most of all peace!

And I have 3 degrees, biology, engineering and physics so I know my biology too and I know that evolution is backed up by more evidence than needed to convince me... so if you have a biology degree and you think bible creation theory is true and not evolution, then I have my doubts about how good your biology education was.. just my opinion... as you are entitled to yours on just how good my religion is... difference religion is a matter of faith and personal preference whereas science is a matter of documented facts... I won't recommend Rutgers to anyone that asks me in the future for good biology programs. Thanks for the info... and I was no condescending to you for the way you talked about evolution implied you had no biology knowledge.. how was I too know.. did you sleep through the evolution lectures?

Shlama Shushan,

I shall not mention The Bible to you again, if that is your wish. You apparently have made up your mind that Bible believers are an inferior species. So be it.

It was interesting while it lasted.

hey dave

my apologies if I was at all offensive... I have no problems with discussing the bible with you... I just get my defenses up, I guess, when someone tries to demand to me what I should believe... I don't think what you believe is inferior.. I don't know why you keep accusing me of things... read all my posts... all I ever say is what I believe and I only confront when someone tries to dictate to me what I have to believe as they believe... it is your religion that damns people and sees them as eternally inferior and tortured for not believing the same as you.. i think you are entitled to believe as you wish and I never said it was inferior... I just said I know science so I know some of it is false.. but you are entitled to be as brainwashed as you want but if you are on a forum trying to pass religion as science and demonize good science, then of course I will counter your argument and ask you to stop bible thumping me.. and by bible thumping I mean saying because your religion's book says something and the powers to be in that religion have interpretted it a certain way, you have some moral authority over me and worse some knowledge of truth that can counter what science and even sometimes common sense tell me... feel free to debate or discuss all the bible material you want.. but everytime someone tells me what I have to believe based on THEIR CHOICE of religion, expect me to call you a bible thumper but I will try not to be so harsh... for I would love to discuss more with you... and I apologize, that have have some post traumatic stress from bible thumpers always thinking they have exclusivity on God and knowledge from all other people and all other religions and always make demands on what I have to believe... you are free to believe as you want as am I and we are both free to discuss... so I apologize if I was too harsh... as I said I have PTSD when it comes to being bible thumped and having labels of heretic and blasphemous when who are you or any PERSON to dictate to me the mind of God... to me religion is a philosophy and a personal thing... and I find my resonance and affinity to the moral and ethical teachings of Jesus, and I am in good company from Jefferson to Ghandi as good souls who only saw value in the ethics and morality and rejected the rest of the supernatural mumbo jumbo, as do I

Peace and I hope you feel free to discuss and debate with me, and even if you want to bible thump, but I probably will react as I always do to bible thumping by telling what I honestly think about it... so if you can give it, then you should take it.. as I will try to to.

N$w$ ytx 0ml$- Shlama Khathi (Sister) Shushan,

I in no wise meant to tell you what to believe. I only wished to present what The Peshitta says about Yeshua.
I do not believe in a torturing God Who sends people into everlasting Hell fire. I believe God is LOVE (1 John 4:8,16) and The Father of all- Ephesians 4:6.

I changed majors from Biology to Theology in the middle of my junior year and transferred to a Christian University to study for the ministry. I received a thoroughly fundamentalist education there which was very demanding and rigorous compared to other secular schools, but forbade independent thought. Academically , they would excel most schools, I have no doubt. They regularly debated Evolution vs. Creationism at other prestigious Universities and would never lose a debate.

I have since renounced the "Funny mentalist" aspects of their teachings- eternal damnation for non believers, separation from other groups that believe differently, the rapture doctrine, original sin, etc.. I do believe in Jesus Christ as the Divine Son of God and that the Bible is His revelation to mankind. I simply have found a new way of understanding it which is very liberating , life giving and healing.
I condemn no one. Our Father in Heaven loves all people as He loves Himself and His Son. God laid down His Life for us to rescue us, and rescue us He did. He will reveal that in due time to each soul.
(AV) Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1 John 3:16

Please do not think of me as anything other than a brother and friend. I know God's love for you is greater than anything imaginable. I hope I have not done anything to cloud that reality.

If you choose not to believe the above theology, I understand that as well. I only mean to show you that I have no ax hidden behind my back.

Grace and Peace to you,

Dave

Thank you Dave,

Both for the kind words and for reaching out and for sharing your beliefs with me, but especially for forgiving my transgression of misjudging you. Feel free to discuss anything with me... I agree with all you just said... andI learned an important lesson that I am becoming too defensive from having been bible thumped so much... for I now realize that you were not doing that but just discussing and that is what I came here to do... I hopeyou do not hesitate to continue to do so and thank you for forgiving me for I was in the wrong... and your grace and peace you just showed, helped me to find the same... and that tells me that you are a sincere and good man and you do have the message of Jesus in you... we are all works in progress, and I am striving to follow that message in a way that never strays.. thank you for showing the kind of tolerance and kindness and forgiveness that helps others not to stray from the path to God.

Bless you and thanks again.

I beg to differ. Only God is perfection... humans can strive for it but never attain it. Actually imperfection is part of our encoding... from errors in genetic replication to allow the mutations and changes that allowed life to evolve... to mistakes in the human psyche and memory well know to the field of psychology.. we will never be perfect.

I do not mean perfection, per excellence. In fact, I do not know what perfection feels like. However, I believe each individual has the ability to

p.s. I don't think you need to explictly state a new term of metaphysics, which means to reach beyond physis, hence nature, as we perceive it, and to discover the "true nature" of things, their ultimate essence and the reason for being... for physics especially fields like quantum mechanics, relativity and the new fields of string theory and unified field theory etc.. are actually reaching beyond "classical" physics to find the true nature beyond what we perceive... as for the reason for being, no science will ever give you that answer... religions can try.. but ultimately reason is a human invention as a result of the evolution of our intelligence so we can arbitrarily assign whatever reason each of us needs to get us through the day or life for that matter.

I like you Shushan. I see you as the perfect opportunity to grow. I will reevaluate my recent posts.

hi,

i like you too and don't like my opinionated posts make you reevaluate too much for what you think and say has a lot of value... i am just very opinionated about what i think ... sometimes too much, i think. hope to talk to you more.
