About the Aramaic Lexicon and Concordance - Ivan Pavlovich Ostapyuk - 07-27-2004

Shlama, Paul
The website of <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.peshitta.org/lexicon/">http://www.peshitta.org/lexicon/</a><!-- m --> is of great interest. Therefore, some information is needed.
Is it possible to print out this dictionary? How many words are in it? Does it cover all new testament words?
Is it of tkhuma dialect? That's about it.
Thanks.

One more thing. The dictionary uses english letters. The same vowels in English can be pronounced differently. What is the rules of pronunciations in the dictionary?
Thanks.

Shlama Ivan,

The Lexicon is based on on the SEDRAIII, owned by Dr. George Kiraz. He has a printed version in 6 volumes - but the cost is rather expensive ($858) - http://syrcom.cua.edu/BethArke/SyrCPub/Concord.html

The Tkhuma dialect is Neo-Aramaic, not ancient Aramaic like the Peshitta.

For pronunciation based on Assyrian vocalization, see <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.assyrianlanguage.com">http://www.assyrianlanguage.com</a><!-- w --> - do not learn to pronounce Aramaic based on latin transliteration characters in a lexicon! <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->
