1Cor 1:21 - drmlanc - 12-22-2003

foolishnes?!?!?! yet the Aramaic can read SIMPLICITY which is much better. Asimple Gospel is more preferable than a foolish one... But can the word here for simplicity Fwy=4bd also mean foolsihness? I can't find it anywhere.

Shlama Akhi Chris,

I looked the lexeme up in Smith's Compendious (same word minus the beith proclitic-'in' and daleth proclitic-'of').

It has "senselessness, folly, misconduct; madness; contempt."

It's #21124 in the Lexical Concordance of this site.
The tau-aleph combination letter is capital 'f'-(shift-f), waw is 'w'-yodh is 'y'-teith is '='-sheen is '4'-beith is'b' and daleth is 'd'....so when the Aramaic word button is dotted, you would put... Fwy=4bd
The keyboard map link is just below the Aramaic Search Field of the Lexical Concordance.

You'll notice that SEDRA (Syriac Electronic Data Retrieval Archive) has foolishness, folly, infatuation.
With reference to 'infatuation' Smith's Compendious has for the root 0=4--be infatuated esp. of conjugal infidelity.

Shlama w'Burkate, Larry Kelsey

I got that too. How did Zorba confuse this for simple?
