Consult to Paul - Vsanzcm - 12-04-2003

Shlama Akhi Paul:
I think I have another good ???capture??? but I want to corroborate something with your expert assistance.
I have checked in different grammars paradigmata but I couldn???t find exactly what I was looking for (particularly, about the Ettafal, but I guess the forms are similar to those of Eshtafal). It???s about a couple of verbs found in some verse (guess! I won???t tell you now because you or somebody else could steal my catch ).

The verbs are:
1. wkmd
From: Kmd , to sleep. This form can be one of these two:
a) Imperative Peal 2nd p. plural
b) Perfect third p. plural
Right?

2. wxyntt0
From: Xwn , to rest (in Ettafal with the same meaning). This form can be one of these two:
a) Imperative Ettafal 2nd p. plural
b) Perfect Ettafal 3rd p. plural
Right?

Please, Akhi Paul, confirm this to me. If I???m right in my suspicion... be prepare to change your translation...

Fwx0b

Shlama Akhi Valentin,

Yes, you are correct in all your observations. The Ettaphal is the medio-passive form of the Aphel conjugation, of course - meaning "to be ...."

What have you got up your sleeve?

confession secret - Vsanzcm - 12-04-2003

Shlama Akhi Paul:
Ssssssshhhh! It's a "confession secret"!
It's all about Mk 14:41. I think we have an "all in one": Mistranslation, Split Word and Contradiction (solved by Peshitta).
I would like to know, however, if there's or have been some other post about this verse (or paralel)...
