Could you translate akhi Paul? - Larry Kelsey - 11-13-2003 Shlama Akhi Paul, In a previous post you said the phrase 0r9cd 0b0kl in Rom. 1:26 should most likely be translated 'disease of disgrace' or to paraphrase as Victor Alexander has....'venereal diseases'. The problem I'm having is with a similar situation in Colossians 3:5 with this phrase... F4yb Fgrw 0b0kw Fwpn=w . Since 0b0kw is surrounded by words meaning 'fornication', 'uncleanness / impurity',etc., could this use of 0b0k hint at the 'suffering / disease / grief' that results from this type of sin? I'm having a hard time with this. From Greek-to-English 'passion', 'lustful passion', 'sensual passion' and 'inordinate affection' are among the translations I've found. Shlama w'Burkate, Larry Kelsey - Paul Younan - 11-13-2003 Shlama Akhi Larry, The root for this noun has a secondary meaning of "to regret, to aggrieve, to cause injury", and perhaps one of those is the best translation in this case. |
