Somebody plz esplain Aramaic "Hebrews" - mcarmichael - 03-16-2015

I don't know what to say.

The NASB makes sense one way, but it's obviously a difficult passage. Does it read any different in the Aramaic text?

Thanks.

I have a list, however, it is Dutch and to translate it would take too much time now

Here is a list in which you can compare it yourselves. However, the common Aramaic translations do not Always reflect that difference.
For instance, Melchizedek, is called a 'kumrea' and not a 'cohen' (kahn in Aramaic). Both Cohen and 'Kumrea' translate to 'priest' in English
Though, the difference between 'kumrea' and 'cohen' is remarkable, as only the sons of Aaron were 'cohen'.

I disagree with John Chrysostom here, and my parish priest said that was okay.

So I guess there's really only one way to interpret it (because we all interpret.)

Disagree with what? Who is John?

And who's the 'parish' priest? What did he say? Please be specific.

Oh .. John Chrysostom

John Chrysostom wrote, concerning Heb. 6:6 that it refers to baptism. Ie., they can't be baptized again - and then followed with "but they can go through confession" - which sort of defies the logic of the passage, IMHO.

My parish priest (I'm not sure who's words you wanted), of the Eastern Orthodox Church, said that it was maybe okay to disagree with John Chrysostom.

I've become sort of a Letter to the Hebrews buff, because I struggled with it for such a long time.

Were the passages that you listed supposed to be hotlinks? I wasn't quite sure what to do with that.

Thanks, and have a blessed day.

Here is John Chrysostom's work which I am referring to: http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/240209.htm

Thanks for the clarification.
The list I gave, is your homework, dude
Just start comparing using http://www.dukhrana.com/peshitta for instance.

As I told, I got a list of differences, but I will not translate them to English. Just the verse references.

Hebrews 6:6 is wrongly quoted by Christosom.
Murdock translation: "cannot again sin, and a second time be renewed to repentance; OR a second time crucify and insult the Son of God."
