"Maran Atha" is Aramaic. +Shamasha Paul Re: Anathema Maranatha - CreationTruth - 10-20-2012 Hi Paul Corinthians was not written in Aramaic? Re: Anathema Maranatha - distazo - 10-20-2012 Welcome to the aramaic primacy topic. Too much arguments to mention in one post, but it is possible very well that Paul just always wrote his epistles in Jewish Aramaic and had Luke (for instance) and Titus translate it to Greek for his Greek audience. The existance of 'Maran Atha' is a smoking gun of translation of such Aramaic original. Re: Anathema Maranatha - Paul Younan - 10-21-2012 CreationTruth Wrote:Hi Paul Hi CT I'm not sure I follow. What do you mean? +Shamasha Re: Anathema Maranatha - Paul Younan - 10-21-2012 Paul Younan Wrote:CreationTruth Wrote:Hi Paul Hi again CT, I think I see the confusion now. In the Aramaic of Corinthians 16:22, the Aramaic word for "accursed" is "khrim". That word is translated into the Greek "anathema." The Greek translator rendered "khrim" into "anathema", and left "maran atha" untranslated since it was a recognized phrase even to the Greek reader. +Shamasha Re: Anathema Maranatha - CreationTruth - 10-21-2012 I got it. Thanks Distazo Thanks again Paul |
