Rendering Matthew 24:7 'earthquakes' - distazo - 01-20-2009
In Matthew 24:7
Yeshua mentions 'earthquakes' during the endtime (before the temple fell down). However, except the earthquake of laodicea, I've not seen evidence of a rise of earthquakes in Judea.
The aramaic word behind it, also can mean 'sedition' or 'winter'.
So, would it not be 'sedition' because of the fact that the jews indeed caused seditions (against the Roman empire)?

The word for 'earthquakes' can mean also mean the "stirring of ferment" according to Payne-Smith's Compendious but 'earthquakes' fits the context better where "famines and plagues" are also mentioned. The Aramaic idiom "b'Doka Doka" implies "various places" just as "anash anash" means "some of the people" in other Scriptures. I like it,though, when I see different people on the forum "thinking outside the box"! That's how a lot of nice discoveries are made sometimes. <!-- s

Seditions makes a lot more sense contextually, to me anyway.
