Aesthetic Appearance pf Forums - Stephen Silver - 10-05-2008

Shlama Khulkon:
The lime green is less of a contrast than the previous blue-black and is harder to see. As one gets older and the eyesight begins to fail, we depend upon contrast more. Black and white, or dark blue and white are much easier to distinguish than lime, yellow or light colours and white. I suggest that if we don't want to make posting difficult for the elderly members that we return to the original colour scheme. Either that or choose a colour scheme that gives stronger visual cues of borders.

Shlama,
Stephen

Shlama,

although the contrast is not personally an issue, perhaps there is an option on the forum controls to change the color style for each individual user?

i've been on a forum before where this was an option. i don't know if the setup allows that option to be available here, but i thought i'd throw out the possibility... <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->

Personally I love the new look, but maybe we should try a new colour scheme everyday then run a pole on which one we should keep. Howz that sound?

Re: Aesthetic Appearance pf Forums - Paul Younan - 10-05-2008

I think we can set a default, then allow the users to switch based on their preference. I like the lighter look because it blends better with the rest of the website, but I also hear Stephen that some users will prefer more contrast. Let me see which setting it is that I have to enable on the forum, then everyone can select any number of themes to their preference.

Shlama Akhay,

I've manager to figure out how you can set your own preference:

(1) Click the "User Control Panel" link near the top of the forum
(2) Click the "Board Preferences" tab
(3) Choose your preferred theme under "My Board Style" (the current default is "Maxthon", the old one was "ProSilver")

That should do it!

Akhi Stephen - let me know if that works out for you!

Shlama Akhi Paul:
That's great. Now anyone can choose one of three different settings. Way to go.

Shlama,
Stephen

There are more templates, too - I'll install them over the next couple of days.
