which which is which? - Yochanan5730 - 07-24-2008 shlema shalom my friends and brothers/sisters <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s --> i am wondering, since i am readily accepting of the peshitta as primary, which english translation of the New Covenant writings is probably best: Lamsa? Etheridge? or Murdock? and are there other english translations i am not aware of? i'm not speaking of the recent ones (like in the last 10-20 years). i have noticed a major trend in people producing new peshitta translations. todah rabbah (how does one say "thank you" in Aramaic?) Yochanan Re: which which is which? - Christina - 07-24-2008 Out of the 3 options you gave, my choice is Lamsa BUT make sure you always have the actual Aramaic text with you when you read his version. Murdock & Etheridge are ok, Etheridge is the better of the 2 IMO. Of course once Mari/P.E.A.C.E. is released and when akhi Paul finishes his version we'll have no more need for those "golden oldies". Re: which which is which? - Paul Younan - 07-24-2008 Christina, thanks for the kind nudging =) Akhan Yochanan - "Todah Rabbah" is Aramaic for "many thanks!" Take care! +Shamasha Paul Re: which which is which? - Yochanan5730 - 07-25-2008 Paul Younan Wrote:Christina, thanks for the kind nudging =)lol okay, so that's two aramaic things i already know how to pronounce lol.
