Righteous - Stephen Silver - 07-24-2008

Shlama Forum:
In reading Romans 3:21 I noticed the word for righteousness is htwn0k "kanutah", Romans 1:17, 3:5, 3:21, 3:22, 10:3, rather than Qydz "zadiq", as in I John 2:29. Why the difference? Anyone!!

Shlama,
Stephen

Shlama Akhi Stephen!

The first thing that comes to mind is that keenotha is more associated with godly righteousness / justice, while zaddiq on the other hand is more associated with human righteousness (righteous by doing what is right).

Re: Righteous - Paul Younan - 07-24-2008

This reminds me of the closing of the liturgy, Lars....

Quote:May the Trinity that blessed our righteous believers and forefathers; bless this congregation, and may it be blessed now and for ever. Protect, O my Lord those who dwell in it from all harm and tribulations. Let it be full of blessings, like the House of Abraham. And increase and multiply its benefits like that of righteous Job....

(tlee'tha'yu'tha d'wa ith-barakh m'haym'neh kee'neh, w'awa'ha'than qad'ma'yeh.......)

Akhan Stephen, just a synonym, essentially, for Zadiq. They can be used interchangeably.
