Every Greek text of Luke 9:52 that I have a record of has kwmjn Samareitwn ('a village of Samaritans'). That is, except for one. Tischendorf's edition has polin Samaritwn ('a city of Samaritans').
The corresponding word in the Peshitta is [font=Estrangelo (V1.1)]Fyrq[/font] which the SEDRA lexicon defines as 'village' or 'field.' The CAL lexicon however gives these entries:

I suppose the most interesting part of this discovery is how the much more prominent word for 'city' in Aramaic, 'medintha,' is compounded together with 'qry' resulting in 'territory of a city' as its meaning and another form of 'medintha' namely 'medina' (capitalize the 'm' and you have the second most holy site in Islam <!-- s
--><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s --> ), when combined with 'qrith' means 'village-town' in CAL's entries listed above.
