Paul,

Can I get a literal translation of each of the following three verses: John 20:22 and Hebrews 6:4-5? Specifically I was wondering about the Aramaic words used for "received" and "partakers" (or perhaps "tasted").

I noticed the Peshitta translates Hebrews 6:4 with the verb "received", as in "received the Holy Spirit" (word #13178 in The Way International's lexicon). In John 20:22 a word is translated as "receive", as in "receive the Holy Spirit" (word #17980 in TWI's lexicon).

Are there any meaningful differences in the understanding of these two verbs? Do the Aramaic words translated as "tasted", "partaker" (or any similar words partook, partakers), and "receive(d)" look anything alike in the original language. It was certainly good to speak with you today my old friend.
