Hello Everyone,
We read this in Matthew 26:63-65.

Matthew 26:63-65 (Murdock Translation) - And Jesus was silent. And the high priest answered, and said to him: I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Messiah, the Son of God. Jesus saith to him: Thou hast said. And I say to you, That hereafter ye will see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest rent his clothes, and said: Behold, he hath blasphemed! Why therefore should we seek for witnesses ? Behold, ye have now heard his blasphemy.

Mark 14:63 (Murdock Translation) - "And the high priest rent his tunic, and said: What need of witnesses have we, any more?"

We read this in Old Testament where Moses telling Aaron and his sons.

Leviticus 10:6 (NIV) - Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, ?Do not let your hair become unkempt* and do not tear your clothes, or you will die and the Lord will be angry with the whole community. But your relatives, all the Israelites, may mourn for those the Lord has destroyed by fire."

*unkempt- Or Do not uncover your heads.

We read this again in Leviticus 21:10.

Leviticus 21:10 (NIV) - "The high priest, the one among his brothers who has had the anointing oil poured on his head and who has been ordained to wear the priestly garments, must not let his hair become unkempt or tear his clothes."

Doesn't this mean that High Priest Caiaphas violated the law.
In the context of Moses's command, he is discussing mourning. If Caiaphas did break the Torah, it wouldn't really matter. Jesus Himself said of the Pharisees:

"Did not Mushe give you the Namusa? Yet not one of you keeps the Namusa."- Aramaic Peshitta New Testament Translation: Messianic Version
Good Point!
Leviticus 10:6 (NIV) - Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, ?Do not let your hair become unkempt..."

YES!!! Eleazar and Ithamar (1 Chronicles 24) and especially of the House of Eleazar!!!
I have stated that this is all of a Type, a Type that includes Jannaeus and runs all the way back to the House of Eleazar.
The Hasmoneans claim the Title of Leading Group of the House of Eleazar. Jewish Encyclopedia, "Hasmoneans":

The family name of the Hasmonean dynasty originates with the ancestor of the house..., who, according to Wellhausen, is said to have been the grandfather of Mattathias.... The high-priestly and princely dignity of the Hasmoneans was founded by a resolution, adopted in Sept., 141 B.C., at a large assembly "of the priests and the people and of the elders of the land, to the effect that Simon should be their leader and high priest forever, until there should arise a faithful prophet" (I Macc. xiv. 41)."

Clothes: Jesus has his GARMENTS touched in Mark:

Mark 5: 25 - 31 (RSV):

[25] And there was a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years,
[26] and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse.
[27] She had heard the reports about Jesus, and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment.
[28] For she said, "If I touch even his garments, I shall be made well."
[29] And immediately the hemorrhage ceased; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.
[30] And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone forth from him, immediately turned about in the crowd, and said, "Who touched my garments?"
[31] And his disciples said to him, "You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, `Who touched me?'"

There is so much to examine here! (I'll try to stay out of trouble!)

Leviticus 8: 5 - 10 (RSV):

[5] And Moses said to the congregation, "This is the thing which the LORD has commanded to be done."
[6] And Moses brought Aaron and his sons, and washed them with water.
[7] And he put on him the coat, and girded him with the girdle, and clothed him with the robe, and put the ephod upon him, and girded him with the skilfully woven band of the ephod, binding it to him therewith.
[8] And he placed the breastpiece on him, and in the breastpiece he put the Urim and the Thummim.
[9] And he set the turban upon his head, and on the turban, in front, he set the golden plate, the holy crown, as the LORD commanded Moses.
[10] Then Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was in it, and consecrated them.

Leviticus 9: (RSV): 23 - 24 (RSV)

[23] And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting; and when they came out they blessed the people, and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people.
[24] And fire came forth from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat upon the altar; and when all the people saw it, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

Hair:

Antiquities..., 14, 9, 4:

"When affairs stood thus, one whose name was Sameas, a righteous man he was, and for that reason above all fear, rose up, and said, "O you that are assessors with me, and O thou that art our king, I neither have ever myself known such a case, nor do I suppose that any one of you can name its parallel, that one who is called to take his trial by us ever stood in such a manner before us; but every one, whosoever he be, that comes to be tried by this Sanhedrim, presents himself in a submissive manner, and like one that is in fear of himself, and that endeavors to move us to compassion, with his hair dishevelled, and in a black and mourning garment: but this admirable man Herod, who is accused of murder, and called to answer so heavy an accusation, stands here clothed in purple, and with the hair of his head finely trimmed, and with his armed men about him, that if we shall condemn him by our law, he may slay us, and by overbearing justice may himself escape death. Yet do not I make this complaint against Herod himself; he is to be sure more concerned for himself than for the laws; but my complaint is against yourselves, and your king, who gave him a license so to do. However, take you notice, that God is great, and that this very man, whom you are going to absolve and dismiss, for the sake of Hyrcanus, will one day punish both you and your king himself also." Nor did Sameas mistake in any part of this prediction; for when Herod had received the kingdom, he slew all the members of this Sanhedrim, and Hyrcanus himself also, excepting Sameas..."

This is all of a Type.
Good stuff!

The Talmud requires the High Priest to rent his garments (never to be mended again) at hearing the actual name of God "according to the letters" uttered by an unauthorized source. Jesus did not stop at confirming that he was the Messiah... that in itself is not a capital offense. He went on to quote Psalms 110:1 involving the Tetragrammaton. This is what produced the reaction of the High Priest and Sanhedrin. They readily agreed that Jesus was worthy of death and said so. I am certain Jesus did not say "Power" when quoting Psalms 110:1 and the prophet Daniel. "Power" itself is a substitution (like LORD) for the name of God. If you want to know the Talmud reference I can quickly look it up.
Charles, do you have a website where all your stuff can be read? A book maybe?
